Services Thursday for Mrs. John W. Rath, 85
Funeral services for Mrs. John W. Rath, 85, of 225 Highland Blvd., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Rath, widow of a co-founder of the Rath Packing Company, died at her home about 11 pm. Monday of arteriosclerosis.
...Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Born [Ella] Maude Harbin, July 3, 1875, in Waterloo, the daughter of George W. and Amelia Snyder Harbin. She was married to John Washington Rath(of Ackley) Aug. 21, 1895. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1951.
Mrs. Rath was a graduate of East High and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She had been active in Sunday school work and in various women's groups of the church in former years. She also was a member of PEO, Chapter Z, and the Happy Hour Club.
Survivors include one son, Howard H. Rath, of 1075 Prospect Blvd., one daughter, Mrs. A. D. Donnell of 415 Prospect Blvd., six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home until noon on Thursday. The casket will not be opened at the church
