She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family more than anything. She attended Kellys Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell 'Peck' Bess; son, Charles Ray Bess; baby daughter, Carol Jean Bess; parents, Delarma and Virgie Asbury; brother, Cody Asbury; and sister, Elizabeth Asbury.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina and husband, Danny Davis, of Kellys Creek; son, Ronald and wife, Pamela Bess, of Kellys Creek; six grandchildren, Jason and wife, Lindsay Davis, of Tyler Mountain, Charles Matthew and Andrew Davis of Kellys Creek, Michael and wife, Jessica, and Brian and Kimberly Bess, all of Kellys Creek; two stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers Carl, Cephis and Harley Asbury, all of Kellys Creek, and Manuel Asbury of California.
A tribute to the life of Mrs. Bess will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Stanley Miller and Cletus Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
