BRITE, Lonie, 103, retired teacher, of Lockhart died Wednesday. Visitation 5 p.m. today, Eeds Funeral Home, Lockhart. Services 2 p.m. Friday, First Lockhart Baptist Church.

Burial Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale.

Lonie LaRue Borrer Brite was born January 28, 1907, in Stewarts Prairie, to James Issac and Sara Katherine Burns Borrer.

She passed away September 8, 2010, at the age of 103.

Lonie received a Bachelors of Science degree from San Marcos State University. Lonie married Leslie Barton Brite, on October 14, 1939. Lonie taught school for 42 years in Caldwell, Fayette, Gonzales, Liveoak, and Bastrop Counties. She was a charter member of the Lockhart Retired Teachers Association. She strongly believed in the education of our youth. Lonie was a Past Matron of 50 years, and an Endowed Member of Lockhart Chapter #210, Order of the Eastern Star. She was deeply moved when the Lockhart Eastern Star honored her by naming their honorary scholarship after Mrs. Lonie Brite. She was a 50 year member of Rub Neb Temple #64, Daughters of the Nile, Austin, Texas, and a member of First Lockhart Baptist Church.

Lonie joins a host of family who preceded her in death including her husband and her parents; five brothers, Joel Borrer, Shellie Borrer, Brodie Borrer, Hope Borrer, and Lloyd Borrer; six sisters, Sadie Johnson, Alta Johnson, Georgia Hallmark, Ora Johnson, Lois McGee, and Mary Robinson.

Visitation was held Thursday, September 09, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas. Services were Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lockhart Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were; Keith Borrer, Michael Mercer, Monty McGuffin, Morris Alexander, and Jimmie McGee. Serving as honorary pallbearers were; Max Blanton, Bill Creech, Billie McGee, Delmar Tally, and Bob McNairy. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
