Dortha R. Sullivan

Dortha R. Sullivan, 90, of 741 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, formerly of Hanover, died Sunday, August 25 at The Gettysburg Hospital.

Born June 6, 1906, in Mill Creek, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Amos B. and Lenora Moats Cowger. She was married to the late Ralph W. Godfrey and the late Raymond B. Sullivan.

Mrs. Sullivan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gettysburg Hanover Ward, and the Relief Society at the church. She was a baker for the church bazaar. Mrs. Sullivan was employed by the Hanover General Hospital as a food preparation assistant prior to her retirement.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol Cool and Geneta Murphy, both of Hanover, Frances Breazeale of Geneva, Florida, and Joy Pickens of Walkersville, West Virginia. One son, Delmar Godfrey of Columbia, South Carolina, 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Agnes West and Madeline Fincham.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Jollie Godfrey Sr, Maurice Godfrey, and Conegene Godfrey, one brother Elmer B. Cowger, and one sister Viola McCauley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kohler Mill Road, New Oxford, with Bishop Timothy Dimmick officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Pines Cemetery, New Chester.

Friends may call Wednesday, from 7 to 9 pm at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, and Thursday, from 10 to 11 am at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Sullivan's name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gettysburg Hanover Ward Missionary Fund, c/o R. 2 Box 2429, Glenville 17329.
