He married Margaret "Peg" Smith March 12, 1936 in Fort Dodge IA after which they moved to their farm NE of Rolfe IA. They farmed until 1968 when Lyle was forced to quit farming due to ill health. They continued to live on the farmstead and wintered in Arizona.
Lyle was a member of the United methodist Church in Rolfe and enjoyed fishing and travel.
Lyle was proceeded in death by his parents Francis and Anna, his brothers Arthur and Earl and sisters Marjorie Harris and Hazel Greeke.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, and many nieces and nephews.
