MADAWASKA - Egline Cyr, 95, died May 9, 1996, at a Madawaska nursing home. She was born in St. Agatha, May 8, 1901, the daughter of Eloi and Euphemie (Hebert) Lagassey. She was educated at St. Agatha grammar school and high school. She earned her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital, Portland, Class of 1930. She immediately became night supervisor, until her marriage on June 5, 1934 to Alsime Cyr at Sacred Heart Church, Portland. She owned a clothing store between 1937 and 1967 in Madawaska. She was predeceased by her husband, Alsime Cyr, in 1991. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Charlene) Soucy of Fort Kent; and one grandchild, Mrs. Daniel (Danielle Marie) Paradis of Grand Falls, N.B.; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann and David Philip; two brothers, Rosaire of St. Agatha and Philip of New Britain, Conn.; one sister, Blandine Gain of Portland; several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call at the Michaud Funeral Home, Frenchville, 6-9 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Madawaska, with the Rev. Mike Doucette officating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Madawaska.
