Enjoyed most sports in her youth such as speed walking and skiing. A day of skiing also included hiking to Grouse Mountain, skiing for the day and walking back home to
downtown Vancouver.
She is the daughter of Maude Todd of Leeds England and
Henry Carter of Bristol England. On immigrating to Canada
they had very little and lived in a tent in Vancouver B.C.
until they had enough to build a house.
She was friends with the "Buchanan family"in her teens (as there was 14 children) and eventually married the love of her life.. Stanley Garfield Buchanan May 25th 1937.(also known as Pudge). They lived in Vancouver and then moved to Richmond. They had three children, Beth, Wayne, and Sue.
She worked in the silk screening field all her life.
