Cletis Shrewsbury, 82, of Route 3, Box 377, Bluefield, died Tuesday, May 7, 1985 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born May 26, 1902 in Rock, he was a lifelong resident of Mercer County and a son of Robert William and Arrabelle Linkous Shrewsbury.
He was a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge No. 137, Rock Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 130 and Duhring Church of Christ. He was a retired miner from the Winding Gulf Colliers Mine, Goodwill and a member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Emmett (Peggy) Painter.
Survivors: wife, Ruby Williams Shrewsbury; sons, Cletis Roy Shrewsbury of Salem, Va., Robert Shrewsbury of the home; daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Kirby of Bluewell; brothers, John Moore of Dublin, Va., Sam Moore of Port Orange, Fl.; sisters Mrs. Claude ( Frances) Garrett of Princeton, Mrs. Paul (Alma) Mahaffey, Grace Shrewsbury both of Holly Hill, Fl., Mrs. Smith (Maudie) James of Winter Haven, Fl.; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two step-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel, Bluewell with the Rev. R.B. Pickett and the Rev. Dr. C.H. Patterson officiating and entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Bailey Masonic Lodge No. 137.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today where the Rock Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 130 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m.
