Lyla married Frank Knox summer of 1934 in Clifton, KS. Lyla was a homemaker, farmer's wife and worked as a clerk in Clay Center, KS. They moved to Berryville in 1959. She owned/operated Lyla's Café for several years and worked in Berryville and Green Forest until she retired. Lyla married Carl Smith of Rudd September 21, 1978.
Lyla is survived by sons, Richard Knox and wife Ann of Elizabeth City, NC, Kenneth Knox of Berryville, AR and Dennis Knox and wife Lynn of Conway, AR; granddaughters, Marcia and husband Greg Young of Hollister, MO, Anita and husband Randy Gage of Berryville, AR; grandsons, Christopher Knox and wife Tracy and Aaron Knox all of Conway, AR; one great-grandson, Jonathan Malone of Bellefonte, AR; nephew, Nolan Istas of Lane, KS; nieces, Donna Haight of Kansas and Shirley Higgenbotham of Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Knox and second husband, Carl Smith. She was also preceded by her parents, Ada and Peter Dull; sister, Hazel Randle; two half-brothers, John and Charlie Dull; one half-sister, Eva Lee; one granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Malone; two daughters-in-law, Fern and Laura Knox; special niece, Joy Marie Higginbotham and nephews, Dean Higginbotham and Steven Haight; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
