Services for Jose "Lupe" Gonzales, 77, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in the First Church of the Nazarene, Abernathy, TX, with Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Louis Schaap officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

Mr. Gonzales died Saturday, Febuary 26, 2011, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born in Karnes City, TX on August 13, 1933. He married Julia Paiz on December 9, 1953 in San Antonio, TX, she preceded him in death November 8, 2005. They moved to Abernathy in the Spring of 1970 from Dimmitt, TX. He was employed with White Gold Gin for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Abernathy, TX.

He is survived by 2 sons, Joe & Linda Gonzales of Abernathy, TX, Juan & Bekah Gonzales of Lubbock, TX, one daughter, Lidia & Frank Rodriguez of Sunray, TX, 2 brothers, Margarito Gonzales of Del Rio, TX and Migues Gonzales of Lubbock, TX, a sister, Gloria Hernandez of Lubbock, TX 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
