William Edgar Garrett was the son of Mancel Garrett (1839-1891) and Rebecca Gilstrap (1850-1924), natives of Missouri. William had the following known siblings:

Grover C. Garrett (died in infancy)
Leatha Ann Garrett 1885 –

On November 17, 1897, William married Myrtle Noble in Bevier, Macon County, Missouri. They had two known children:

Cecil Mancel Garrett 1898 – 1919
Chester Garrett 1901 –

William was a coal miner for the Central Coal and Coke Company near Bevier, Missouri.

William died in 1953 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, according to his Missouri Death Certificate 10544.
