My Grandfather was quite a character. He had five sons who always looked up to him - he was the head of the family and they all knew it. At dinner, he would prepare each persons plate and you would eat what was given to you. He chewed tobacco all his life and could hit the spittoon 15 feet away every time. He loved to drink but no one ever saw him intoxicated. He loved living in Syracuse and lived in the same neighborhood for over 70 years. He lived to be 99 and was hoping to make it to the 100 year mark - wanted a letter from the President. He was a voracious reader and was well versed in every topic. He loved a good argument and sometimes would get his opponent so upset.....But he loved that. He loved football and other sports and had a special chair in the living room - it allowed him to get up easily. He had the most beautiful penmanship ever - I still keep letters from him just to look at his script.
