Mary Magdeline Feininger was born to Edward Feininger Sr. and Mary T. Privratsky Feininger on March 30, 1922 in Dickinson, ND. She attended St. Josephs grade school in Dickinson, the went to Richarton, ND and attended Richarton Sacred Heart High School for one year. She then went to Mount Marty Acedemy in Yankton, SD and in 1939 she returned home to Dickinson, ND. She had graduated high school in three years. She then attended Dickinson State College until 1940, then went to Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Williston, ND. She spent one year at Cooke County Hospital in Chicago, IL and graduated nurses training on January 4, 1944. She worked for one year at Cooke County in Chicago as a surgical post-graduate then went to San Francisco, CA She was hired by Fr. Miley Veterans Military Hospital during WWII, woking as a surgical nurse caring for the injured in the war. In 1945 she married Fred Teachout. In 1951 her son Gerald was born deaf, so she began working with the hearing impaired on a voluntary basis at Mr. Zion Hospital for three years. In 1969 she began work at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehab Center where she remained until she retired in 1991. Mary passed away on May 6, 2003.
