E.L. Tullos, 86, of Apple Springs, was born July 25, 1924 in Centralia, Texas, the son of the late Willie Jane and Roscoe Tullos. He passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Tullos was retired from Lufkin Industries as a machinist. He was also a rancher and loved his horses and cows. He was "The Last Great Cowboy." He was a member of Centralia Church of Christ. Mr. Tullos was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Edwards; stepson, Doug Giles; brother, R. W. Tullos; and sister, Willie Mae Howell. Pallbearers will be Mikeal Cockrell, Scott Brister, Woodie Luce, Jeffery Luce, Bennie Burke, Glenn McMullen and Bennett Ray McMullen. Mr. Tullos¹ family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Jacob Thomas and the Staff of Memorial Health Systems of East Texas for the loving care shown to him. Services for Mr. Tullos will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Centralia Church of Christ, with Neal Kemper and Darell Westfal officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson-Tullos Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.gipsonfuneralhome.com. Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
