Scientist, engineer, and inventor. He was known as an electronics genius. Although he never graduated from grammar school. He became Senior Vice President and a member of the Senior Board of Directors at Raytheon. He invented the microwave oven. He had about 300 patents during his lifetime. Spencer received no royalties. For his work he was awarded the Distinguished Public Service Award by the U.S. Navy. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999.
