Walter Wylie "Bicycle Red" Whitten, 68, of Broken Bow, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Broken Bow. He was born January 23, 1937.

Walter came to Broken Bow in October of 1970 from Star City, Arkansas, where he met T. L. Clouse and began working in the Clouse Sawmill until 1987. He attended several of the local churches in Broken Bow, and at the age of 58 he was saved kneeling on a bale of hay at Goodnews Fellowship Church, and a short time later was Baptized. Walter spoke a lot about his family which he had loved very much. He spent many hours visiting friends and would often go to cemeteries checking on the condition of graves of friends and loved ones. When Walter became a resident of McCurtain Manor Nursing Home he took on the responsibility of looking after the other residents. If Walter called you a friend he was always there if you needed him.

He was preceded in death by his wife and family.

Walter is survived by his McCurtain Manor family, Goodnews Fellowship Church Family, and many friends.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2005 at the Conley-White Funeral Chapel in Broken Bow. Interment will follow in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
