Larry was born in South Whitley, Indiana. He moved to San Diego, California with his family when he was 9 because his father, Joe, had enlisted in the Navy and to be stationed in San Diego.
Larry served in the U.S. Marines in the late 50's and was stationed in Hawaii for three years.
After getting his AA from Riverside Community College, he got a job with IBM in San Jose, California, where he continued his education. Larry eventually graduated from San Jose State and also attended classes at UC-Berkeley.
He was also member of the National Riffle Association as well as the Quarter Century Club at I.B.M., in San Jose, Ca., where he worked for 26 years.
