OBITUARY:

BANGOR – Edith Louise Sabine, 84, wife of Percy Sabine for 52 years, passed away peacefully March 3, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Bucksport, daughter of Freeman and Mabel (Pierson) Bridges.

Edith lived most of her life in Bangor. She worked at Striar Textile Mill, Orono, and was co-owner of Edie's Antiques and Collectibles, Brewer. She was well known for her expertise in and love of antique glassware. She had been a member of Twin City Baptist Church, Brewer, and a past member of the Grange, Bangor. Her love of needlework was also apparent in her numerous, beautifully crafted pieces of embroidery.

She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Wilber, Raymond, Bernard and Clarence; and by her husband in 2000. Edith is survived by two sisters, Irene Atwood of Bucksport and Shirley Lydick of East Millinocket; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 5-6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Bucksport.
