GREEN COUNTY KENTUCKY OBITUARY – 1985
Mr. Adolphus Ennis, adopted son of Mr. T.C. Ennis & Mrs. Flora Curry Ennis, was born March 21, 1899 in Green Co., KY and departed this life at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 [1985] at the McDowell Skilled Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was 86 years, 6 months and 4 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ early in life. Mr. Ennis opened the A. Ennis Restaurant August 3, 1943 and operated it until his health prevented him doing so. He formerly operated a mill, blacksmith shop and was a farmer. He united in marriage to Miss Verna Henderson March 8, 1918 and she preceded him in death August 26 [1985]. To this union were born 1 son and 1 daughter: Paul Ennis, Greensburg, and Mrs. June Gardner, Charlotte, NC. Mr. Ennis is also survived by 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter: Larry Ennis, and Mike Ennis, both of Campbellsville; Dr. Stephen Gardner, South Carolina and Miss Teresa Gardner, North Carolina, and 6 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Friday, September 27 with burial in the Old Liletown Cemetery. Rev. Gilbert Larimore officiated. Active pallbearers were Bill Lile, Dr. Stephen Gardner, Mike Ennis, Larry Ennis, Georing Judd and Walker Paxton. Honorary pallbearers were Amos Kessler, Pete White, Aubrey Pruitt, James Bagby, William Lewis and Dutch Jones.
