ALEXANDER, Sarah Burton
Jeffress, 79, of Fairfield, died
Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at her home,
Cherry Grove Farm. She was born
on April 29, 1921 in Fairfield and
was a daughter of the late Dr.
William Arthur Jeffress and Fannie
Dorsie Price Jeffress. She was a
member of the Fairfield Presbyterian
Church. She graduated from Fairfield
High School and Madison College.
She retired from teaching after 35
years, having taught in Stuarts Draft,
Staunton and Fairfield. She was a
member of the Augusta County
Retired Teachers Association. Mrs.
Alexander is survived by her
husband, James Gibson Alexander,
Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law,
James G. Alexander, Jr., Thomas
Jeffress Alexander and his wife, Jean
Ann, all of Fairfield; and one sister,
Susie Jeffress McCormick, Raphine.
Graveside services will be conducted
at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 in
the Fairfield Cemetery with Rev.
Jeanette Baggs officiating. The family
suggests memorial contributions be
made to the Fairfield First Aid Crew.
The family will receive friends at the
residence at anytime. Arrangements
by the Harrison Funeral Home,
Lexington.
