Funeral services for Michael C. "Mickey" Chambers, 48, of Ocean Springs, MS formerly of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 7, 2011, at Our lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Sebastian Kallarackal officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Chambers passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, MS. After graduating from St. Frederick High School and receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences from NLU in Monroe, he was in sales with Hertz Equipment Rental in Memphis, TN, Scott Truck and Tractor in Monroe, and Prime Equipment Rental in New Orleans. Mickey then decided to go back to school and received his Degree in Nursing from LSUMC School of Nursing in New Orleans.

Mickey's nursing career included: Meadowcrest Hospital, Gretna, LA as Staff RN Telemetry/ICU; Tulane Hospital for Children, New Orleans, LA as Nurse Clinician for Pediatric Nephrology; Nurse Finders, Inc, Metairie, LA as Contract RN for Critical Care Units; United Nursing International, Metairie, LA as Contract RN for Critical Care Units; Meadowcrest Hospital Gretna, LA as Nurse Case Manager and ICU/CCU Charge RN; Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital, Houston, TX as Pediatric Transport Nurse; Methodist Hospital, Sugarland, TX as Emergency Department RN; and Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocean Springs, MS as Emergency Department Nurse at the time of his death.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Merrell Chambers of Monroe; sister, Chrissie Whatley and husband Quince of Katy, TX; brother, Patrick Chambers and wife Jennifer of Vicksburg, MS; five nephews, Michael Whatley, Josh Chambers, Matthew Chambers, Tanner Chambers, and Dillon Chambers; one niece, Ryan Whatley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and a Vigil Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
