James O. Bennett of Plainfield passed away Tuesday January 23, 2007. Funeral services were Friday January 26 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial with military honors took place at Clayton Cemetery.

He was born September 14, 1925 to the late Rollin and Ella (Craig) Bennett in Clinton, Kentucky. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. James was the town marshall for the communities of Fillmore, Clayton and Brooklyn, Indiana. He was a member of the Center Community Church in Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Joyce J. (Rich) Bennett; three sons, Carl, Ron and Terry Bennett; four daughters, Sharon Henderson, Barbara Devlin, Stacy Collester, and Jama Bennett; a brother, Gene Bennett; children from his first marriage, Madeline, Jackie, and Jimmy Bennett; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
