---Mayota Bailey Overstreet, daughter of Oscar L. and Ruby Bailey, was born November 21, 1921 near Ethel, Missouri and died at her home in Columbia, Missouri, January 7, 1947 at the age of twenty-five years, one month and seventeen days.
---On December 24, 1943 she was married to Harold Overstreet and to them were born one son, Steven Lee, now one month old.
---Besides her husband and son, mother and father, she leaves to mourn her death, two brothers, George P. and Oacar Paul; one sister, Iris June; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bailey and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ina Prentice and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Overstreet of Kirksville and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hubert Hules of Kirksville.
---Mayota graduated as an honor student from La Plata High School and Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught in the High School at Green, Iowa and two years in Senior High at Kirksville.
---She joined the Gifford Christian Church at the age of fifteen and her life was spent in service to God and doing deeds of kindness to her friends and loved ones who will mourn her death.
