Mr. Rozance was born in Cleveland, Ohio, where he met and later married the love of his life, and wife of sixty-six years, Vida. He proudly graduated from John Carroll University in Ohio, and eventually went on to earn his Masters Degree in Education from UC Berkeley.
He worked as an elementary school teacher and principal within the Berkeley Unified School District for thrity-five years, beginning his career at Thousand Oaks school, and finishing with the Berkeley Head Start program. A lifetime member of the Cal Alumni Assn, Mr. Rozance was an avid sports enthusiast and Cal fan. He also enjoyed fifteen summers as camp director at Berkeley Echo Lake Camp. He served our country during WWII as a Lieutenant in the US Navy.
Survived by his adoring wife Vida; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Rozance, daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Lance Kolding; grandchildren Paul, Eric, John, and Mary Ann Rozance, Sophie and Mark Kolding; and great-grandchildren, Maggie, Eleanor, and Charlie Birchler-Rozance. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Mark Rozance, and sister Mary Sommers.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset View Mortuary, top of Fairmount Avenue, El Cerrito, with interment to follow in Sunset View Cemetery.
