Marion was plunged into sadness Wednesday by the death of John Richard Boston which occurred in an Evansville hospital. Young Boston became ill Sunday and the disease was pronounced as spinal meningitis by physicians here late Monday evening. He was taken immediately to Evansville for treatment, which proved ineffectual, the patient never regaining consciousness after leaving Marion.

John Richard Boston was the older son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurie Nunn Boston. He was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Marion and lived his entire life here. John Richard was a sophomore in Marion High School. He was a general social favorite among the younger people in Marion and was held in high regard by the general public.
