Melvin Edward (later Edwin) Twin was born 16 June 1921 (says on the memorial June 1, but that's incorrect) to Florence Logan and Ray Twin of the Ho-Chunk nation. His father died when he was very young and Melvin went with his mother to the Meskwaki nation (sometimes with relatives in Nebraska) where Florence married his step father, Sam Peters Sr.
Melvin Twin was one of the Meskwaki Code Talkers in WWII. He was decorated and received many honors for his service to his country.
Melvin died 11 September 1983 leaving many family members and joining many others who have gone on before him.
