Alice Rita Namey Allen, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2011. Alice was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on October 14,1921 to Salim Namey and Amelia (Jamiley) Namey and at the age of three, moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Alice resided upstairs of the family owned grocery, The Sunshine Store while a student at Immaculate Conception Catholic School until her graduation. Alice was a member of the SAE BENET'S Club for Lebanese American's where she met and later married her loving husband Richard Thomas Allen in 1948. Alice was a lifelong member of member of Immaculate Conception and Assumption Catholic Churches. She enjoyed cooking delicious Lebanese food and her family was her life; especially her grandchildren. She affectionately enjoyed the best circle of first cousins and friends anyone could ask for. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a devoted daughter and caregiver to her own mother Amelia Namey until her death in 1985. When a stroke compromised Alice's independence in 1998, she was embraced within the care of her adoring husband, three children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and three grandchildren until her decease . Alice was a woman of Godly faith and will be deeply missed. Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years Richard Thomas Allen. She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons: Randy Allen, Robert (Lisa) Allen; one daughter Elizabeth (Ismael) Ruiz; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Michael and Marisa Ruiz; one step grand-daughter Jennifer Buzell; one brother Joseph (Betty) Namey; one sister-in-law Thelma Mashour; she leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7th with Vigil Prayers at 7:00 p.m. in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8th in Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd. Jacksonville, with Father Anthony Sebra as Celebrant, followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 as well as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223.
