Archibald McNair
Archibald McNair, for 33 years a resident of Coos county, died at his home here today (Aug 9) (Bandon). The deceased was born Jan. 10, 1854 in Restigouche Co., New Brunswick, Canada and was 63 years of age. He came to the United States locating at Myrtle Point in this country 33 years ago. Shortly after he arrived here he purchased a farm which he conducted for a number of years. In the month of August 1899, he came to Bandon to take up residence.
He engaged in the Hardware business known as the McNair Hardware Co. and to whom his son, G.R. McNair, is now president. In 1913 he retired from active business life. He took an extensive trip to the southern and eastern states and to his old home in Canada. Besides his wife, the deceased is survived by 7 children as follows: Mrs. Ralph Rackleff of Myrtle Point; Mrs. H.E. Boak of Bandon; Mrs. H.J. Hopkins of Enumclaw, Wash.; G.R. McNair of Bandon; Mrs. R.E. Watkins of Fortuna, Calif.; Harry D. McNair of Bandon and Errol McNair at present near Walla Walla, Wash. Six brothers also survive, they are Nathaniel of Sierraville, Calif.; John, James, William of Loyalton, Calif.; Alex of Tillamook, Ore.; David of Myrtle Point and Mrs. Jean White of California. Burial was in the K of P cemetery and the funeral was conducted by the Masonic Lodge.
