"Paul M. Hill, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 29, 2010 after he fought a long hard courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Scott County, VA and had lived in Kingsport since 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post # 3 for over 55 years. He was retired from IBEW Electrical Union, after over 48 years of service. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and a member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Emma Kern Hill; two sisters, Opal Welch, Ruth Williams and five brothers, Atwell Hill, Otis Hill, J. E. Hill, Craig Hill and Tommy Hill.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 58 years, Charlotte Dishner Hill of the home; daughter, Teresa Owens and husband, Greg of Elizabethton; son, Richard A. "Rick" Hill of Kingsport; three granddaughters, Taylor Owens, Jordan Owens, and Hunter Owens; sisters, Faye Horton and husband, Paul of Fall Branch, Geraldine Stanley of Grundy, VA and special sister, Ruby Bishop of Duffield; two brothers, Carl Hill and wife, Betty June of Mt Carmel and Ben Hill and wife, Betty of Church Hill; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4 pm with Pastor Otis Kay Hill, Jr. and Rev. Joe Hill, officiating. Music will be provided by The Bill Dishner family.

Military graveside services will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, conducted by the American Legion Post # 3/265. Pallbearers are Randy Williams, Jeff Williams, Ronald Salyer, Jeff May, David Hill, Marty Hill, Alan Hill, and Kimberly Isbel. Honorary pallbearers are Jack May, Kelsie Minnick, Ted Wampler, Kenny Hill, and Bobby Welch. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:55 am.
