LUDLOW - Rita B. (Bissonnette) Phaneuf, 93, of Ludlow, passed away on Sunday March 6, 2011 at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham. She was born in Springfield on August 29, 1917 a daughter of the late Phillias and Elsie (Levesque) Bissonnette. She was raised in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. Rita was the co-owner, with her late husband Aldore L. Phaneuf, Sr., of the former Phaneuf Pharmacy on Breckwood Boulevard in Springfield. She later was employed as a bookkeeper for Louis & Clark Drug Stores, retiring in 1980. Rita was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Community of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow and was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality of the Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aldore L. Phaneuf, Sr in 2008. Rita is survived by her son, Aldore L."Skip" Phaneuf, Jr. and his wife Cecelia of Ludlow; a brother, Richard Bissonnette of Ludlow; and her granddaughters, Nicole Phaneuf and Lisa Phaneuf and her fiancé Tristan McKenna. Visiting hours for Rita will be held on Friday March 11, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St Elizabeth's Church, 191 Hubbard Street in Ludlow on Saturday March 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. to celebrate her Liturgy of Christian Burial. Her committal will be private at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society , 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
