George Washington,74,of this county,died last Saturday in Somerset City Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Calhoun was born Dec. 24,1881,the son of the late Jack and Susan (Owens)Calhoun. He married Clotha York Nov. 3,1898 and 13 children were born to this marriage.

Mrs. Calhoun and four children preceded him in death. A member of the Buck Creek Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Calhoun gave freely of time, energy and money to the support and welfare of the church. His honesty and love of his fellow man won him the esteem and friendship of all with whom he came in contact.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by the five daughters: Mrs. Vida Mae Adams of Cleveland,OH,Mrs. Eva Chaney of Colo.,Mrs. Helen Foster of Norwood,OH, Mrs. Ruby Ralfon of Chicago, and Mrs. Lola Young of Dayton,OH;two sons:Jessie Calhoun of London, England and Sammy Calhoun of California. He is also survived by three sisters:Mrs. Lizzie York of Terra Haute,IN,Mrs. Lola Jones of Danville,Il, and Mrs. Bannie Powell of Cayuga,In.;20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of the Ward-Farris Funeral home. Services were conducted by the Rev. Fred Richardson. Burial was in the Somerset Cemetery.
