Vonnie Beard, age 93, of Houston, Texas passed away at his residence Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was born to Sam Beard and Mary Ann (Mundine) Beard in Broaddus, Texas on March 6, 1917.
Vonnie served in the U.S. Navy as a Fighter Pilot during WWII. After returning home from service he worked in Real Estate as a Realty Salesman. He was a member of Bellaire Church of Christ where he served as an Elder, Aggregate 40+ years at Alief Church of Christ, and a member of America's Greatest Generation.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Squires Beard of Houston; son Barry Beard and wife Kay of Houston; grandson Samuel Carter Beard of Houston; sister Rosalie Octava Beard Burns of Broaddus. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Beard; daughter Kimberley; brothers Don Carlos Beard, Sam S. Beard, Douglas Beard, Ben Beard, Joe Beard, Milton Beard ; sisters Olga Green , Marie Green , Mary Jeanette Beard.
Graveside services are Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Broaddus Cemetery in Broaddus, Texas at 3:00 P.M.. Speaker will be John Kilgore.
Pallbearers will be Sam Beard, Scott Beard, Allen Neal Burns, Joe Beard, Mike Beard, John Kilgore, John Minniece, Jerry Hamilton.
