Mrs. Ruth L. Smith

BOLIVAR -- Mrs. Ruth L. Smith, a former resident of Bolivar, died Saturday (Dec. 17, 1989) in Cuba Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.

Born Jan. 4, 1901, in Weston's Mills, she was a daughter of James P.(sic) and Adellaide(sic) Lewis Lindsey(sic). On July 3, 1926, in Bolivar, she married Homer C. Smith, who predeceased her.

Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Westbrook Academy in Olean and had been employed for many years as a secretary in Bolivar.

She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Buttrick Chapter 109 and was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 772 of Bolivar.

Surviving are a son, Homer C. Smith of Newark, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc. 51 S. Main St., Portville, where funeral and committal services will be held Tuesday (Dec. 20, 1988) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Cughan, pastor of the Portville Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
