On February 23,1882, he married Frances E. Hunter, Daughter of Wm. McLin Hunter. Their children were Elizabeth,"Lizzie"; Nancy Ann, "Anna"; Wm.Anton, "Tony"; and Fred Alvis Mueller. Frances Hunter Mueller died August 15, 1891. She was buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, next to her parents. Joseph Mueller was a blacksmith. He was a member and was elected an Elder of Mt. Gilead Church. On July 24, 1896,he married Pairlee (Geter) Sybert. They were the parents of Charles, who died at the age of four years; Florence, Mrs. Florence Meserve of Humboldt, IL., and Selma Mueller, who died at age 18. Pairlee died and was buried in Montrose cemetery, next to her mother-in-law Magdalena Mueller Spies. Joseph J. Mueller died January 4, 1932. He was buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, next to his wife, Frances (Hunter) Mueller. Their graves are in the southeast part of the cemetery.
