Joseph was the son of Joseph Annear (1805-1850 WI) & Jenifred Blake. He moved to Carroll county IA in November 1868. On the 7th of September, 1871, Joseph was united in marriage to Miss Mary J. Bedford, a daughter of Charles and Betsey (Knowles) Bedford. They were the parents of George, William, Lilly May, Oletha Etta, Charles Arthur, James Albert, & John Blake. He retired from active farming in 1904, renting his land to his sons at one and a half dollars per acre, cash rent.


April 25, 1934 - Carroll Daily - Joseph Annear, 86, old time resident of Carrollton, died here Saturday from illness due to old age. Mr Annear came to Iowa from Wisconsin 50 years ago. He farmed many years accumulating a competence and in his later years moved into Coon Rapids where he made his home with his daughter since the death of the wife some 10 years ago. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday and interment made in the Carrollton cemetery.
