Alvin Leo Schonefeld, 84, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in a local care center.
He was a native of Rivera, Texas and had been a resident of Sulphur for 40 years, coming from Corpus Christi, Texas. Alvin was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and traveling. He retired from P.P.G. Industries after 22 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Schonefeld of Sulphur; his son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Michael and Pam Schonefeld of El Dorado, Arkansas; two daughters, Karen Domingue and husband, Jody of McAlester, Oklahoma and Kimberly Maddox and husband, Stephone "Bo" of Sugar Land, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Colynn Schonefeld of Sulphur; four brothers, Robert Schonefeld of Orlando, Florida, Marvin Schonefeld of Rivera, Texas, Lloyd Schonefeld of Houston, Texas, and Henry Schonefeld of Houston, Texas; his sister, Mary Ann Ford of Corpus Christi, Texas; and six grandchildren, Bethany Domingue, Christine Schonefeld, John Schonefeld, Laurel Maddox, Benjamin Domingue, and Daniel Schonefeld. He is preceded in death by his son, Scott Schonefeld; three brothers, Johnny, Floyd, and Larry Schonefeld; and three sisters, Catherine Amsden, Marjorie Howard, and Leona Boatman.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Sunday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
