Ida Marie Gandy Battle Creek Ida Marie Gandy, 87, of Battle Creek, passed from this life at Battle Creek Health System, to be with her Lord in her eternal home, on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. She was born July 5, 1920 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Dorsey and D. Hazel (Miller) Weimer. Ida grew up in St. Cloud, where she graduated from high school and attended State Teachers college. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Ida married A. Elwood Gandy on November 30, 1941 in St. Cloud, MN. They lived briefly in Chicago and came to Battle Creek in 1946. Ida and Elwood lived here until moving to Gainesville, FL in 1996 and returned here in 2000. Ida was preceded in death by Elwood, her husband of 58 years, on July 29, 2000; by a sister, Ruby Dilley; and a brother, Lester Weimer. Surviving are a son, Lester A. (Joyce) Gandy of Battle Creek; a daughter, Yvonne R. Robertson of Clearwater, FL; three grandsons, Rev. Craig L. Gandy of Indiana, William Robertson of Texas and Jordan Robertson of Georgia; two granddaughters, Stephanie Moats of Kalamazoo and Hilerie Ryder of Florida; and eight great-grandchildren. Ida was a member of the former Church of the Brethren in Battle Creek. She loved Gospel music and enjoyed attending concerts. In her younger years she enjoyed camping. At the request of the family, friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services to celebrated Ida's life will be held at the funeral home 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, with the Rev. Kate Gandy officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
