Edward disliked the name Simion and thus never used it. He always went by "Edward", "Ed", or sometimes "Eddie".
He was a farmer until 1963, when he began working as a butcher. He and his first wife, (Geraldine), purchased the Memphis Locker in Memphis, Scotland County, Missouri in late 1963 and he became a full time business owner and Butcher, (Meat Cutter). He was known to excel in that trade and so he continued in it until failing health prevented it.
He is known to have married and divorced several times and was rumored to have had more children than are currently known.
What is known is that he fathered six children with his first wife, Geraldine Esther (Marsh) Burden.
They were married April 12, 1952 in Scotland County, Missouri at the Marsh family home. His brother Clarence Young Burden performed the ceremony.
They were divorced on October 24, 1968 in Schuyler County, Missouri.
The children born to this union were: Dixie Colleen, Mark Edward, Mary "Deanna", David Eugene, Deborah Jo and Robert Lavell.
He adopted one child in 1984 while he was married to Elsie Cathern Hastings. The girl was named Cercie-Lee Ann Burden.
Other possible children cannot be substantiated as of this time, (2011), but if I find proof of any, I will add them.
