Mary Alice Armstrong, 76, of Fountain Inn, SC, passed from this life Thursday, March 10, 2011, in Greenville SC. She was born in LaFayette, AL, a daughter of the late McClellan and Mary McConaughy Ratchford and was the widow of Jerry Alfred (Pete) Armstrong. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fountain Inn, a member of Fountain Inn Music Club and had formerly played with the Greenville Symphony. She was a graduate of the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Shea Armstrong of Cary, NC; brother and sister-in-law McClellan and Jan Ratchford of Hiawassee, GA; sister-in-law Sandy Ratchford of Durango, CO; three grandchildren, Ella Calhoun Armstrong, McClellan Ratchford Armstrong and Kate Evans Armstrong all of Cary, NC; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceeding her is death were her parents, husband and a son McClellan Ratchford Armstrong and brother Walter J. Ratchford.
