Theodosia "Joyce" Adams, 75, of Tecumseh, passed away Feb. 26, 2011 in Oklahoma City.
She was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to James Craig Braly and Erma Elizabeth (Solomon) Braly.
Joyce graduated from Franklin High School in Chicago, IL.
She married Glendon D. Adams Feb. 29, 1952 in Waukegan, IL.
Before coming to Oklahoma, Joyce started her career working for Time Life magazine in Chicago. She then went on to become an LPN at Sherman Hospital in IL. In 1980 she began working at Mission Hill Hospital/Unity as a ward clerk and has been employed there for the past 30 years.
Joyce was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She moved to Shawnee in 1980. She then moved to Tecumseh in 1989 and has lived there since. Joyce loved to read, work in her garden and take long walks. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Joyce loved her cats dearly.
Joyce was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon, April 29, 1998; her parents; and one granddaughter Leah Adams.
Those left to cherish her memory are: two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Marie and Bill LeBarre, of Nicoma Park, and Kathryn Ann Gaylord, of Mound, MN; three sons and two daughter-in-law, Steven Adams, of Carpentersville, IL, Michael John and Tracy Adams, of Shawnee, and Paul Glen and Shelly Adams, of Tecumseh; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Sharon Baptist Church with Brother Clint Dawkins officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, of Tecumseh.
