VALERIA GWENDOLA ADDINGTON
Valeria Gwendola Addington died Nov. 8, 2001, at age 90. Mrs. Addington was born Valeria Gwendola Van Hyning on April 14, 1911, in Umpqua, and was raised in Portland and Tigard. She graduated from Tigard High School. A homemaker, she lived in Durham most of her life. During World War II, she and three other mothers formed the Ruralettes, a band that continued to perform throughout Oregon into the early 1960s. She was past president of the Durham Garden Club. In 1935, she married Frank Addington; he died in 1976. Survivors include her son, James; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. No service. Interment in Crescent Grove Cemetery. Remembrances to Tualatin-Durham Senior Center. Arrangements by Young's. (The Oregonian, 18 Nov 2001)
