Chis was born to Arthur and Ina Christensen. She graduate Valedictorian of her high school class in Alexandria Minn. She married Robert B. Schmidt of Helena in Billings Mt. on Oct. 15, 1949. Together they raised their three daughters, Bonnie Jean, Debra and Stephanie.
