Mrs. Myrtle Criswell Ables

Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Criswell Ables of Pickens died Thursday, January 3 at District Two Community Hospital in Durant following a lengthy illness. She was 90.

Mrs. Ables was born on September 15, 1894 in Attala County, was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5 in Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. The Rev. Earl Williams officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.C. McLellan.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Eula Jones and Mrs. Gladys Holden, both of Goodman; Mrs. Mamie Jenkins of Vaughan, Mrs. Louise Ables of Pickens and Mrs. Clara Cox of Beatrice, Nebraska: three sons, Ed Ables of Canton, Emmett Ables of Arcola, and Melvin Ables of Yazoo City; one sister, Mrs. Edna Ables of Kosciusko; 42 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Goodman with Southern of Durant in charge of arrangements.

Serving as active pallbearers were Paul Jones, Paul Jones, Jr., Harold Howard, Lynn Ables David Ables and Tony Ables.
