Loren A. Butts, who passed at the age of 62, was the former Assistant City Attorney in Los Angeles and long prominent in the legal profession in California.
Mr. Butts served as Assistant City Attorney for Los Angeles under two administrations, and was assigned to the Harbor and Water and Power Departments at different times between 1930 and 1933. Before moving to Los Angeles he was City Attorney at Fresno.
He was a native of Camp Point, IL and was admitted to law practice in California on April 12, 1915. He was a member of the State Bar Association and the Los Angeles Bar Association and was admitted to Treasury Department and Supreme Court practice.
Mr. Butts also prominent in Masonic circles, having been a charter member of Sungarden Lodge 530 F&AM of Fresno. He reached office of Esteemed Leading Knight of Fresno BPOE 439 before moving to Los Angeles, and became a member of BPOE 1539 in San Fernando.
He left his widow Amy who passed in 1993 and is buried in Fresno CA, and two brothers, C. Earl Butts of Sacramento who passed in 1977 and Oris E. Butts of Quincy, Ill, who passed in 1976.
