After the war, Al married is high school sweetheart, Ray (nee Rachel) Cohen. Al and Ray had three sons, moved to Hollywood, Florida, and lived a settled middle class life there. Al was a jewelry sales representative and travelled a territory of several southern states. He worked for such prestigious firms as Imperial Pearl, Golay Buchel, and Amdiacor (American Diamond Corp.) He was successful at his vocation because of his outgoing, warm and charming personality.
Al Silber was a wonderful human being. He was adored by his wife and three sons, and loved by numerous friends, family, and neighbors. He had a great sense of humor and was very popular. After purchasing a condo in Miami Beach, within a few years he was elected President of the tenants association. Al Silber was generous almost to a fault, kind, and concerned about the mentally ill (he often volunteered as an advocate for the unfortunate). Al Silber died very suddenly of a stroke shortly after his 72nd birthday. As his monument reads, "We will miss his kindness and generosity."
