"Vestel M. Fisher, age 92, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at his home. Vestel was born January 20, 1915 near Plymouth, Missouri, the son of Ray C. and Bessie (Leakey) Fisher. He attended country schools and graduated from Carrollton High School. On December 15, 1938,he married Virginia L. Moore in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives at the home. Mr. Fisher was a farmer and part owner of Fisher's Truck Stop and Restaurant, and owned and operated Fisher's Drive-In. He lived in Carroll County most of his life. He had been a member of the Saddle Club in Carrollton and loved to hunt and fish. He was a Methodist.

Vestel is also survived by one daughter, Janet Dellinger and husband Bill, Sturgeon, Missouri, five grandchildren, Dr. Charles Fisher, Jr., San Antonio, Texas, Leighann Greco, Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa Newton, Carrollton, Missouri, Justin Decker, Centralia, Missouri, Jeremy Decker, Hallsville, Missouri, and one step grandson, Matthew Dellinger, Allen, Texas. Seventeen great grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Estel, Edmond, Woodrow, and Utah, and two sons, Charles Ray Fisher and Herbert Lee Fisher. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2007 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Harold Young officiating. Mr. Fisher will lie in state on Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Home Care of Mid-Missouri Hospice in memory of Mr. Fisher. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633."
