Claudine Neece was born March 6, 1925, in Portales to the home of Annie and James Charles Crume and died March 15, 2011, in Clovis. She grew up in the Tinsley Crossing area west of Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1943 as the Valedictorian. Claudine was employed after school at J. C. Penney's. After graduation, she went to work at the Air Force Base until the end of World War II. On December 9, 1945 in Portales, she was married to Luther Neece. In 1960, she went to work at Bishop Printing Company where she was employed for more than 20 years helping in the dark room and as a proof reader. Mrs. Neece left a rich heritage for her family by keeping a daily diary of the events of her life, and the things her children said and did. She enjoyed fishing and was genuinely interested in other people. Her favorite game was BINGO. Claudine was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jan Neece of Ione, CA, Billy and Diana Neece of Arch, and Danny Neece of Portales; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Laverne Green of Mammoth, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Charles Crume; a sister, Cornelia King; a son, Dee Neece who died in 2009, and by her husband, Luther who died February 17, 2001.
