Jacqueline Nearne was the daughter of an English father and a French mother, the family moved to France in 1923. When she was 18 years old Jacqueline moved to Nice and worked as a Sales Representative for a Office Equipment company.
When the Second World War broke out she came to England and her fluency in French brought her to the attention of the French Section of the Special Operations Executive, which both Jacqueline and her sister Eileen both joined.
After training in - courier work and morse code and how to use the suitcase radio.
In January 1943 she was parachuted into France and maintained good contact and communications with all groups within the specified area. She carried radio parts and messages to various groups and was reported, to have done excellent work.
After 15 months in the field Jacqueline returned to England by Lysander.
She was Awarded the MBE in 1945.
After the war Jacqueline looked after her sister Eileen (who had been captured and Tortured by the Gestapo and been held in a Concentration camp)in London. She then moved to New York and worked for the United Nations.
In the 1950's artist Brian Stonehouse painted a portrait of Jacqueline (She was a very attractive woman) which now hangs in the Special Forces Club in London.
Jacqueline Nearne never married and died in 1982 age 66.
