Vernon C. Griffith, 95 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at The Salyer Ault Group Home. He was born in Washington Township in Highland County on July 15, 1915 the son of the late Carey Q, and Elsie Neal (Penwell) Griffith. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Griffith and two sisters, Lois Bradshaw and Virginia Satterfield. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict and retired from the US Air Force in 1977. He was also a lifelong Farmer. On September 9, 1950 he was united in marriage to Margaret A. (Kelley) Griffith who survives, one daughter and son in law, Vickie L. and Zane Walker of Hillsboro, two granddaughters, Erin Walker and Emily Walker, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin and Kathleen Griffith of Hillsboro, Joseph and Mary Griffith of Hillsboro, three sisters, Elsie Purcell of Hillsboro, Elma Tucker of Columbus and Edna Willett, Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard at the convenience of the family at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
