Avis Marie (Allman) Schafer (1927 - 2011)

Avis Marie Schafer, 83, Seymour, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.

Mrs. Schafer was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Chapel, Seymour, for more than 50 years. She loved the Lord and lovingly cared for her husband's family and her own family.

She loved to read her Bible, make doll clothes, sew and do "search word" puzzles. She was a homemaker and worked for Seymour Woolen Mill for several years. She loved to do carpentry, working at her husband's side.

Born July 8, 1927, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Bruce and Mary Lena Baurle Allman, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lyman G. Schafer on June 26, 1948, in Seymour, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary E. (Chips) Everhart, Seymour; three grandchildren, Sarah (Zach) Kellermeier, Brownstown, Chris Everhart, Seymour, and Rachael Everhart, Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sydney Kellermeier, Brownstown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Clarence Allman, and two sisters, Ann Steltenpohl and Edith Kleber.

Pastor Larry Dalton will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, after the service.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Pentecostal Chapel Sunday School Department or to the donor's choice of charity.
